Not Another Year End List or: My Favorite Movies of 1970

10: Where's Poppa: Two words: George Segal. The fact that he never made a buddy movie with William Shatner back in the day breaks my heart.

9: The Moonshine War: This Elmore Leonard penned tale of bootleggers in the deep south stars Patrick McGoohan and Alan Alda.

8: The Aristocats: Gotta love 70s hand drawn animation.

7: Hercules in New York: Billed as Arnold Strong, this film marks Arnold Schwarzenegger's debut. Of particular note is Arnold's dubbed voice.

6: Gimmie Shelter: Documenting the Rolling Stones' 1969 tour, the tragedy at Altamont and the death of the '60s.

5: Beneath the Planet of the Apes: Actually any film with talking apes released in 1970 would have made the list.

4: M*A*S*H: Robert Altman's breakthrough film spawned the hit TV show.

3: Woodstock: Jimmi's performance alone is worth the ticket price, but look for the fed up local who calls the whole event "A shitty mess."

2: The Over-the-Hill Gang Rides Again: Sure it was made for TV, but this Aaron Spelling produced western can not be ignored.

1: Airport: The film that spawned countless star-studded disaster flicks in the 70s.

Glad to see the Over The Hill Gang on the list. With the star power of that film, no one should deny it's place on ANY list. Especially with the addition of 'THE KID'!

As for Gimme Shelter, I saw this once and was struck mostly by how BORING it was. Most of it seemed to consist of the Rolling Stones watching footage of themselves. They also attend countless meetings within the doc discussing things as mundane as what kind of seats will be installed in different upcoming venues.

Imagine a buddy flick with Bill Shatner and George Segal. Shattner could be Segal's long lost black son, or maybe it could be about Segal's and Shatner's adventures in space.

Nah - those are stupid.
